Tracker required for TDV8?

I've just called Direct Line to swap my policy over to the TDV8 we have just bought. They say we have to have a tracker on it, presumably because its keyless.

I've priced a Tracker up and the minimum with my discount is £465 to include a years subs.

The option is to cancel my policy with 7 months left to run on it and go elsewhere, or fit the tracker. My annual premium for the TDV8 would be £364. The next cheapest policy I could find without a tracker is £558 with Admiral.

Anyone else had this?

Was in exactly the same position with direct line insuring my previous BMW. Ended up cancelling that policy and getting a new one with LV for circa £350 without any tracker needed 2012 tdv8 Westminster arrived Jan 19 gone Dec 23

I have just renewed with Admiral having shopped around for a better quote. LV and Direct Line both wanted trackers and were still more than my renewal with Admiral so they got the business again, 5th year running. Current: FF Westminster money pit

That £364 will probably be just for the remainder of your 7 month policy. Switching will get you a full 12 months plus save you a load of money by the sounds of it.

Whats annoying is the current owner is with Direct Line and he wasn't told he needed a Tracker.

I found with A-Plan that they wanted a tracker fitted, they already insure my defender so thought I would give them a try and the quote without a tracker was £1k Shocked Cheers Ian
