[Solved] L322 Brakes Lights on with ignition off

Hello
I have a 2004 Td6 and had a problem a few months ago when the brake lights and ignition were on when the key and igniton were in position 0. I replaced the ignition switch and it was sorted for a few months.
The problem has returned, I've cleaned the switch and checked the voltages, in position 0, the only wire apart from the live wires that has voltage is the green wire to the unloader relay terminal 15. it has around 2-3v.
I've checked the LCM, the Black 15 pin plug is giving 12v at pin 10, when the black plug is disconnected, the brakes lights are off.
It has no relation to the brake pedal, it is still on when the ABS plug is disconnected, when i remove fuse 4 for the lights, it turns off for a second and comes back on, no change with fuse 9. When the ignition is in position 1 onward, the brake lights behave as they should
I have checked all the fuses, what do you guys recon, are there any inputs to the LCM that i should check or do you think the LCM is faulty?
Thanks

Edit: I cant access the LCM using allcoms and the following faults are shown

Instrument Panel Module Fault Reading Complete...

0xEF 0x00EF No TXU1 received from Transfer Box ECU.
0xF4 0x00F4 CAN bus fault - No ID.
0xF6 0x00F6 CAN bus fault - No DMER1 received from EMS ECU.
0xF8 0x00F8 CAN busfault - No DMER4 received from EMS ECU.
0x8C 0x008C Auxiliary sense incorrect.

Body Control Module Fault Reading Complete...

0x4 0x0004 Auxiliary input fuse defective.
0xAA 0x00AA Driver door mirror horizontal motor: open circuit.

Anti-Lock Brake System Fault Reading Complete...

0x5A 0x005A Temporary system deactivation.

and a Can Bus error on the air suspension but that clears once the car has been driven

You sure it isn't a dodgy brake light switch under the pedal ? .

Just can back from a short drive, the air suspension lights and the cluster lights stay on after the key is removed showing the P light or a faint handbrake light. This is along with the brake lights on. I checked the resistance of the switch at the different positions and at 0, there is no contact between any two pins.
there is also no central locking, the fob is not working. ill get some more codes
Does anyone know about the green wire to the unloader relay, should it have any voltage on it.
Thanks

If it was to do with the brake light switch, would it not also play up when the car is started. once the ignition is at position 1, the brake lights are off and work as normal with the pedal.

It is a Range Rover, anything can happen Twisted Evil

However, your issue does seem a little more involved.... .

It does feel as though things go wrong more often than not, when its working its absolutely beautiful and a pleasure to drive. However, when the issues do come, they all come at once. Mad

I checked with Allcoms again and have the following code, if anyone can shed any light on the Auxiliary input fuse defective.

Anti-Lock Brake System Fault Reading Complete...

    0x5A 0x005A Temporary system deactivation.
0x8B 0x008B Transfer gearbox CAN error.

    0x47 0x0047 Auxiliary line fault.
    0x7 0x0007 Coding checksum error.[\list]

After clearing this is what remained:

Anti-Lock Brake System Fault Reading Complete...

      0x5A 0x005A Temporary system deactivation

Air Suspension System Fault Reading Complete...

      0x32 0x0032 CAN bus Fault

Edit:
Just to put all the symptoms together
Brake lights are on when the ignition is at 0, returns to normal when turned to position 1. I have replaced it with a new one around 3 months ago and now the issue is back
The air suspension and instrument cluster remain lit after the key is removed, the P gear indicator and the parking brake (Dimmed) light remain on
I am unable to connect to my LCM through allcoms
I have removed the fuses, checked them and put them back in

In days of slow speed electirckery, a dim light on when it shouldn't be could indicate a bad earth. Seem to have seen some such points on here. And, yep, there are lots on the FF, may be a place to consider. I've also had numerous faults come up on the IID when my battery began to fail, some having a resemblence to your list.

(coat prepared for leaving Smile ) Cheers

I've checked the ground points in both A pillars, I'm using the wiring diagrams for the X5 3.0D, it's shows its connected to the passenger side A pillar ground connector. There was no corrosion and both the connector and the grounding point were clean.
Currently the issues have gone away, another thing is that the alarm usually goes off whenever it starts playing up so at least I'll have some notice to disconnect the battery.

Just checked the codes again with Allcoms
these are the ones remaining, the air suspension code clears as soon as you start driving, the ABS temporary system deactivation has been there for a long time but has no effect on the ABS, the only thing I've noticed is the DSC switch doesn't work.

Body Control Module Fault Reading Complete..

0xBD 0x00BD EBV function fault received from ABS ECU.

I'm going to check it in a little while to see if its still going to sleep

The lights are still illuminated, but in a stobe light fashion, on-off-on. The car does sleep and no lights are on the gear indicator.
No lights on the dash, just the brake lights now

So the brake lights have a signal from the HDC that is independent of the ignition, I'll have a look at voltages at the LCM and get back to you

Q

I think your fault finding is way ahead of mine. I'm following this with interest and would hope you can solve and post the solution.

Good luck Cheers

It’s not by any chance a follow me home function is it? I’ve seen this on my IID where you can specify particular lights to come on for a set time after turning the car off.

They don't have any association with the follow me home lights.
So I removed each fuse one by one and had someone check the lights, Fuse 2 is the culprit.
With it removed, the brake lights are off, the air suspension lights are off and they all function again when the ignition is turned back on. I've tried looking in Rave for a fuse diagram but have had no luck, on the diagram in the car it shows it giving power to

Garage door opener
Heated rear window
Rear blower
Rear seat heating
Trailer socket

I'm going to run allcoms again and get some codes with the fuse out

Have a look at the ABS electrical connector under the bonnet, theses can get furred up and corroded and cause all sorts of apparently unrelated issues. Also the steering lock faults? What is the issue there? Again steering faults tend to daisy chain. And check your LCM for damp/corrosion. .

In regards to the steering lock, there are no issues with it and it works absolutely fine.
I've checked the ABS, there was no corrosion on the pins and the lights did not change with it disconnected.
The LCM did have some oxidation inside maybe due to humidity, not damp as the sunroof drains are clear, it was cleaned with contact cleaner, there was no corrosion on the connectors. There are no signs of overheating or any burnt components on the circuit board.
I disconnected the trailer module and reconnected, the brake lights went off. Just waiting to see if it is a permanent fix, I'll try to communicate with the LCM again and see how that goes.
