I had an issue a while back when the LCM refused to communicate. Waited a while, drove the car a bit, then LCM came back on line.

Trailer socket may have been the problem, fingers crossed. .

With regards to the trailer module was it in place when you bought the car, or did you fit it?

I'm assuming it has the trailer socket fitted and you checked that for corrosion. May be a cause. Cheers
Richard

Trailer module was in place from the start, after a response from another forum I understand that Fuse 2 supplies the rear fuse box.

Thankfully all the light associated issues have gone and hopefully will stay gone. Now I have an issue with the steering column which is quite common after doing a google search, so I get one turn of the key after reconnecting the battery, I'm going to get some codes in the morning from the column lock.

Until then, Goodnight.

Thank you all for your suggestions and help

So everything seems to be back to normal, I checked the wheel well and apart from a little surface rust on the boot floor, no corrosion on any plugs and all wires looked good.
So to conclude, if this happens to anyone else.
Pull Fuse 2, if that extinguishes the rear brake lights, then have a look at the trailer module or start pulling fuses in the rear fuse bo, I disconnected and reconnected my trailer module and it's been fine after that and hopefully will be for a long while.

Thank you again

I'll start another thread with regards to another issue I have with my passenger door if I can't get anywhere with it myself.
