For car or car and Caravan?

There are several options, but as usual it’s all in the fine print. Have. Look at the ADAC recovery prices they seem to be reasonable.

Edit..... they may not offer UK residents cover any more....😢 There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I have just taken out breakdown insurance with these for our month trip to Italy in July. http://www.europlusinsurance.co.uk/

Had a good shop around and they seem good value and pretty good cover for the fatty and tin tent.
Only ever needed breakdown cover once in 2010 when the P38 popped the radiator due to the crappy plastic impeller on the water pump breaking up.

@NMJ, You are right, ADAC don't offer cover to UK residents, I tried them.

I went with the AA last year for our 3 trips to NW France, I just couldn't get rid of the nagging doubt. Anyway have a look at the Ferry/Tunnel provider I think they have deals but may not be competitive Shocked

Make sure you’re very clear on the cover level...... I have RAC European cover with my bank account - which includes trailers - but I discovered the hard way, that it only covers the recovery of a trailer if there is a problem with the car - and does not cover a problem with the trailer Shocked

Fortunately my problem was ‘only’ 2 punctures on the same trip - and I was able to find a tyre placee and buy 2 new ones relatively easily - but needless to say, I was less than impressed that they offered zero assistance, even when I said that I didn’t particularly want recovering, just directions to a tyre place.

I use Red Pennant from the Caravan Club. It covers both car and van for a year and covers up to 45 days at a time. Not particularly cheap at £230 but covers things like getting stuck on a muddy field to repatriation should the worst happen. Not sure about age limits imposed though.

I have previously used QDOS Breakdown and Nova Direct www.nova-direct.com Yes they are at the cheaper end of the scale but to cover the occasions when it "might not happen" it works for me
