The Last Car I Thought I Would Buy......

Hi All, new member by happy accident!

After looking for a new 'family' car due to a new baby and a BMW 6 Series, I seen a FFRR on a local forecourt and had a quick look. After 10+ years of BMW coupes, I had never considered a 4x4 or a FFRR. Anyway, after going for a test drive, I 'got it' and finally understand why you guys love these things.

Deal was done there and then on a 2011, 4.4 TDV8, 1 owner, 37k miles, full RRSH in Santorini Black with Westminster wheels. The car also came with new disks +pads all round, full service, full 12m MOT and a clean set of 19" wheels which new Pirelli Scorpions.

To say I am happy is an understatement. Love the effortless torque, waftability, road presence and fuel economy!

The way that they hold the road has also been a pleasant surprise.

No plans apart from maybe some side sides currently, just keep her in tip-top condition and enjoy her.

Cheers, Chris

Congratulations, that’s a handsome looking example Thumbs Up

I broke myself in a bit more gently, with five different LR’s before arriving at the Full Fat. Well done for getting all that dithering about out of the way and jumping straight in at the deep end Laughing Enjoy Thumbs Up

Welcome to the forum and ownership.

You’ve made a good choice with the 4.4 from what I hear. I personally found it beneficial to familiarise myself with the wiki when I joined, there’s som invaluable information in there.

If you’re looking to change anything then Powerful UK have a very good YouTube section so you can do things yourself.

Car looks great, go for the deployable steps from Dan, Duckworths easy to fit yourself, and plenty of help here if you get stuck?

And maybe fill the upper tailgate with rust-inhibitor so it doesn't end up falling to pieces...

Haha yes! It is true that most road users don't like BMW drivers, I was out in the 6 series this afternoon and noticed other people's road manners toward the BMW are not the best. Even in the more imposing FFRR, you don't feel the need to drive too quickly as you know you have plenty of power in reserve and just want to waft around, where as the 6 just wants to go constantly.

FFRR from now on I feel.....

When I'm in the BMW, other drivers will tailgate me if I'm driving too slow, try to race me if I'm driving fast, expect me to cut in front of them...it's weird.

In the big Range Rovers, I tend to cruise a bit more but no one will tailgate me, probably since I likely won't see them in my rearview mirror anyway, and most people will just drive around me if I'm going slower than their liking. It's great. Drivers tend to leave me alone in the RR, and it works out perfectly, because I tune everyone else out too! Cool 2010 RR SC
