Are you getting any steering lock clicks when you switch the engine off and remove the key? No? Can you then still turn the steering wheel at all? Yes ? If so it sounds like the steering lock has stuck in the disengaged position and therefore not completing the locking immobilisation sequence. If you can read the codes this should show up as a steering lock failure. At least your still mobile at present - its worse if the lock fails closed as you wont be able to start or move the car but worth getting the codes checked as a first step. |

Bit drastic. I think you can get to the mechanism with the column in place. Have a look at this which may help
