L322 Roof Lining

About to fit a shark fin dab aerial to the roof. Wondering if anyone has taken down the roof lining as will I need to drop the whole thing to drill the roof, or just drop the back end of the roof lining? Also, is it possible to feed cable through the roof on a rod rather than messing about with taking the pillars apart?

You can't drop the roof without creasing it/damaging it, without taking the pillar covers off anyway...

Hope that helps Thumbs Up

so probably best to get a "pro" to remove and install aerial then, if they damage it, they can replace it. If so, might opt for an "evoque" dab roof aerial

Fix aerial to tailgate spoiler then route cable into the car from the tailgate ?

Might look a bit odd, but less invasive.

Also powerfuluk do a video about changing the OEM aerial by just dropping the rear section of the headlining (a bit). Might give enough room to drill through (use a stop/guide on the drill) .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

If you are positioning the aerial near the back end of the car it is easy enough to pull off the upper tailgate rubber seal and slide a piece of plywood/MDT board in between the roof and the headlining to protect the roof lining while you drill the roof.
If you fit the cable to the aerial first and feed it into the space above the headlining it's easy to fish for the cable with a rod with a nail in the end of it.
Once you have the cable at the back run it to the front around the edge of the headlining by unpicking the headlining as you go and pushing the cable behind it. Thumbs Up
