Replacement Bonnet Lettering

I'm not proud of it but I started taking my 2014 VSE to the local hand car wash this winter.

They seem to use some detergent that gave the 'titanium' front 'Range Rover' lettering a sort of mottled black appearance.

LR wanted £108 for the genuine replacement kit (just 10 letters & a template!) but I got some from Powerful UK for £35.00, thinking that if I cocked it up, I could still have two more goes for the same price.

I'm pleased to say that the Powerful version seems 100%.

You have to specify the L405 kit which follows the curve of the bonnet top to bottom which some don't apparently.

The old letters come off easily with a plastic trim removal tool and the adhesive foam template was easy to use and gives the correct curve from side to side as well. It's not a straight line.

Giving the front edge of the bonnet a good polish with no letters in the way lifts the look of the thing as well.

Anyway, an endorsement for the Powerful set, and there's a good video on YouTube if you need.

No connection etc, just hope it might help if someone's thinking about this.

Re: Replacement Bonnet Lettering

The lettering is an issue with the L405, known to LR.

LR TOPIx information is:

'Title
SSM71959 - Bonnet or Tailgate Land / Range Rover Badge Discolouration
Global reference
SSM71959'

Thumbs Up

Oh rats. Does that mean I could have got it under warranty? I extended mine with LR.

Don't know... Ours got done by main dealer out of 'good will' about 10 months after purchase as AU but not sure if they claimed it back from LR or warranty, maybe not.

I'm sure many of you will have a good laugh at this one but I had the same issue with bonnet lettering on my black AB. I had every intention of replacing the lettering, and most likely I'll still do that as I'm a bit OCD with things being right. None the less, and with nothing to lose and no potential damage I bought a miniature model makers paint roller and an aerosol of silver wheel paint (which seems to have great coverage compared to regular paint) sprayed the paint in to the cap, allow the solvent to evaporate a bit, applied to the roller and five minutes later job done. So much so, i've been in no rush to replace the letters as it looks absolutely fine and so much better than a mix of worn silver and black. Don't try brushing it on though, it would look dreadful !

Cunning. Never thought of that, though I think my way might have been easier!

Also you get to polish the leading edge of the bonnet without letters there and that does lift the look of it.

I asked Powerful UK about letters a few weeks back when I wanted to buy some having seen their video with the foam template etc. and they didn't have them on their website, they replied to say "we don't sell letters anymore", now they're back on their site, great customer service that.

I got the powerful ones the other day, one came with a fault but I’m sure they’ll rectify when I let them know, deliver is really fast and the kit and the template is great. £25 which I thought was really reasonable, only wish I’d gone for the rear ones as well.

Don’t ask why I started with the “A”
