Paint Options - Original or not . . . .

Good evening all -

I believe I'm officially a "lurker" now after not having an L322 for five years now Whistle

However, I do have an ex Portugal LHD 1993 two door Tdi which occupies a fair amount of my time. Ahem.

Determined to have it ready for RR50 next year, I'm considering colour options. Original colour is Plymouth blue (a colour I've had before on a previous '93 Tdi). I'm not averse to this shade, and with the ability to change the colour of an RRC completely being pretty easy as all the panels remove - I'm considering other colours too.

The spec of the car will be returned to standard including cloth seats, Rostyle wheels & absolutely NO adornments, so what do we reckon ?

If anything I'd like it to be a Land Rover colour

Cheers
Paul Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

Personally, if resale value is not a driver I would give it an up to date LR colour, I know the purists don't like it but a Zambezi or Carpathian would look the dogs proverbial. Thumbs Up

How about the original blue or mustard colour. I watched Bangars and Cash last night and “they” say the worst thing you can do to a classic is change the colour. However it still broke its estimate so blew that theory, on the day and all that.

If it were mine it would be the yellow/mustard colour.

Steve.

Those are Plymouth blue, I had one in that colour.

And ardennes green.

Both great colours, however I like Rosco suggestion of a modern colour, as long as it's not black grey white or silver . Remember:- amateurs built the ark

Its your car but for what its worth I think the blue looks great, personally I would avoid black, grey or silver especially on a classic but it would seem more members like those colours esp. black and grey so I am in a minority - but give me red, blues and greens anyday and everyday. Cool Geoff

Thanks chaps
I asked you lot as I know many of you are died in the wool RR people who’ve had several varieties . . .
Just for the record, mustard is an absolute no no 😆
I’ve seen a few in modern silver/greys which looks smart but I’m a stickler for originality too.
Defender colours - such as Portofino (solid) red & Coniston (solid) green are also in the running.

Think I’ll have to look at that photoshop thingy 🤔 Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

Many thanks Nearlee, I remember the name of the blue now, but I would never have remembered the green.

I would go with the original Plymouth Blue, I have had 2 classics in this colour and it’s one of the nicest for the original RR, also had A few green ones in Cypress Green and Ardennes. A RR classic in black just looks plain wrong - even though in the latter years it was available as a Std Colour - I seem to remember Richard Branson running a fleet in the early 90’s to ferry vip’s around and to their Virgin Jets. 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

Must admit portafino on a rrc does look nice.

My favourite colour is Bali blue, early d4, now that does pop. Remember:- amateurs built the ark

Thanks again 👍
I reckon the green one above is “Cypress Green”, Nearlee ? - but, hey ho !
The interior colour is beige (the standard towelling type). I removed a complete faux leather interior from the car as soon as it arrived. Hideous.
The seats are high back fronts to which I have added arm rests (!), with a later high back 60/40 set up in the rear.
I may well stick with the original Plymouth Blue, but there again . . . Laughing

As it’s an E plate, and assuming it’s an 87/88 vintage then yes it will be Cypress Green - Ardennes Game out with the G reg or thereabouts - we had a new 89 G reg and that was of the first Ardennes Green ones out. 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17
