Speeding

After 39 years of driving, I’ve broken my duck of speeding offences! A manned speed camera got me apparently doing 83 mph on the A303 east of Wincanton. By the law of averages it was bound to happen, but its still galling. I just hope the BMW pictured just behind me also got done.....

Ironically, the offence took place whilst Mrs S and I were on our way to our complimentary Land Rover Experience at the Honiton centre.

What was the limit - 60 or 70 ?

@70 then you've got a reasonable chance of an awareness course - the guideline is below 10% plus 9mph - but it's only a guideline.....

70 limit as it was dual carriageway and I have the option of an awareness course, which I will take.

Thumbs Up I did one a few years ago - wasn't that bad - much better than I was expecting it to be.

Very lucky. Sods law I’d get done in the fatty too. I tend to waft along in that and drive like a hooligan in my Mini JCW....

Mind I did once get a ticket in Ireland (in a Freelander 1 TD4) doing 70 on a dual carriageway between Limerick and Galway, where The Gard delighted in telling me the limit on such a road was 60. I pointed out that anywhere else in Europe the limit would be at least 70 but it cut no ice. He then asked me when I was heading home, to which I said the next day, so he said here’s a souvenir, we won’t be chasing you for the fine. So that one doesn’t count!

Very hard to get a ticket over here back in the day. I was born here but family moved to south london / surrey when i was child so grew up with strict law enforcement , got a ban ,etc for speeding but when i came back to ireland in the early nineties it was paradise regarding speeding. I couldn't believe the lack of enforcement , no longer as its now almost as bad as the UK. Which of course i support fully for any traffic corp ( our speeding police ) reading this Thumbs Up 2015 4.4 AB
