So a little background. This would be my first Range Rover. I always buy roughly 10 year old vehicles and prefer European. I currently drive a Jaguar XJR X308 which is my second one. I am looking for the FFRR to replace a recently retired Ford Excursion and soon to be retired BMW e38 740i sport.

I understand this site has fewer US members than others, but his one definitely has the most knowledgeable members. I would love to have the option of the TDV8, but sadly we only have the 5.0 NA or SC. I have loved my SC 4.0 Jags and they have not been any worse than other NA engines such as the M62 in the BMW so I much prefer the ponies and torque of the SC option. Of course it also means much shorter supply.

A one owner car is always reassuring, particularly if it comes with well documented history... in which case it would seem a no-brainer to me. Get a bumper to bumper warranty for peace of mind, no doubt it will need stuff doing every year. |

See that dealers on the other side of the pond use the same fake excuse. If they don't want a landy check up, forget it. It might be worthwhile to buy or borrow a GAP tool and use that on a potential Rangy. Good luck with your search. I bought mine on pics only from first owner in the UK and had it transported to my home in France, it,s now in its fifth year here, doing it's best to please me |

Looks a very nice car and compared to European prices it's a bargain. I thought from 2010 on they all had this hidden gear stick....? Don't use all your budget on the purchase, there will be something to do, repair or whatever. Good luck, wisdom and bon voyage |

5.0l supercharged continue with the 6 speed gearbox from the earlier 3.6TDV8 I think. Hence the gear lever. |

I have further information from the AB, as I am communicating directly with the first owner, I have the advantage of learning more about the maintenance history. He has maintained this vehicle as should be expected all the way to current day. I just learned that he performed the timing chain guides preventative replacement last year. I have not yet seen the invoice, but he is going to share that as well as the contact information for the independent RR mechanic that he untilizes post LR warranty. I am sure this was the typical $5K+ investment that baring unexpected failure, will position this vehicle for a probability of 75K addition miles. We all know that there can be other issues such as supercharger, fuel injection, etc. but arguably, this is the most expensive repair that is now priced into asking price. Given the vehicles proximity to my location and current information with the added bonus of the additional frills that come with the AB, the pendulum as swung in favor of it. I must admit though, that I have not personally witnessed an AB model and am wondering if I will like a full leather headliner. |

Yes, I am prepared for the eventuality of immediate service and of course the future service based upon the service cycle. At this point I am estimating that my next service point outside of normal fluids will be 150K miles assuming a 30K mile cycle. |

I was also curious, the sales rep figured it was some sort of mount like a RAM ball mount glued with double faced tape to the trim. |

that is definitely the direction I am headed. I have a call in the shop where the vehicle has been serviced for years and am awaiting a return call. The owner has spoken with them about this so they are expecting my call. Also, I should be getting more pictures tomorrow as well, so just a few more boxes to check and then a bit of negotiating and we should be able to come to an agreement.
