Leakage fluid TDV8 4.4. 2011

Hi guys,

At 60mph I heard a strange noise under the hood. After opening the hood I saw directly a few rain drops which is coming from a pipe. Is this the air conditioning conduit because sometimes feels like this is not working properly (smells musty inside the car)? I think this is the low pressure AC pipe? Someone who knows if I have to replace this part or is this a matter of retightening?

Thanks for your help!

I think the pipe you have photographed is the high pressure discharge from the AC compressor. It should feel hot to the touch when operating. It appears that it may be forming condensation on it, which may indicate a flow resrtriction in the system. Let us know if the pipe feels hot or cool.

As to the musty smell, it could be a simple bacterial growth causing that.

Search indications here and on the 'net and you shoud find a solution to the musty smell and how to resolve it. It may be as simple as turning the heater up to maximum for some time, or introducing an aerosol anti-bacterial spray and perhaps replacing the pollen filter. Do you know when it was last changed? Cheers
Richard
