Group Expedition to Tromsø

Are there any amongst you who would be mad enough to join us on a trip to Tromsø at the end of the year to see the Northern Lights, drive on Ice Roads and stay within the Arctic Circle?

We currently have a couple of Evoques, a couple of Freelanders and a Disco 3. There are several Defender owners interested and even a RRC - but as yet no L322's Big Cry

For interested parties, we have a Website a Facebook page and a Facebook group:

http://landroveradventures.co.uk/

Some of you may remember last year we trekked from the UK to Chernobyl/Pripyat

Dates are a bit fluffy at the moment - but you'd need Winter Tyres (three peak symbol) a co-driver (10 hour days) and Heated Seats Laughing (-18C)

How are you getting to Norway ?
I have been three times , once with my Classic, and twice with my P38, so many years ago, but it used to be very easy to get to Bergen when their was a car ferry run by Fjord Line from Newcastle, and a choice to return from Stevanger,

I never got as far North as Tromso, but the southern Fjords are spectacular, and made for 3 very memorable holidays.
Enjoy, !!
And please supply more details.

Trip

I would love to, time and money.

We have been to Norway 4 times, mostly Christmas and always winter. Always used the now closed sea routes.

Oddly, winter tyres are not mandatory in Norway in winter. First time we went, front wheel drive VW Transporter with good all-season Michelin tyres. We managed well, even down to -17c on ice and deep snow.

Then, it was RWD Mercedes Sprinter motorhomes with winter tyres.

That said, we now have an old Fiat Ducato, FWD motorhome on Michelin Alpin Winters. Still copes in snow up in Austrian and Swiss alps.

Ill keep en eye out in-case we win the big one and get our Range Rover.

Good luck.

TM

Have you considered making enquiries about a deal with the freight ferry that sails twice a week from Imingham direct to Brevik in Norway.
They won’t normally take leisure bookings, but a group booking for say 10 Land Rovers ??
The on board facilities are geared to cater for lorry drivers, so prices should be reasonable.
I would certainly be interested then.
It would save me well over 2000 miles and the pain of the M25.
