Auto Park Brake For L405

Hi all

I bought a 63 plate Evoque 2.0 Si4 Dynamic a little while back and the park brake auto engages or disengages, so I pull up and put the car in park, the hand brake goes on, if i then put in drive it goes off. Ive read that it also goes off when going from P to D in our 405’s but why not auto engage from D to P?

Thanks

Carl

My park break auto disengages when i go from P to D (or R or S), however it does not auto engage when going from any of the drive modes back to P
However, if you forget to engage the park break after putting it in P and then turning it off it will engage it.

Not sure if this helps answer your Q? Current

Not sure I can answer the original question of why the behaviour is different but I can confirm that I’ve experienced what’s described by the OP and have to say that I prefer the action of the Evoque (ie automatic operation of the EPB when engaging Park). 2016 SDV8 AB

Carlos, have you tried shutting the car off in drive? I know the wife D4 only allows for auto function of the EPB when NOT selecting P... i,e. Leave car in D and press engine off button, car will automatically put the rotary dial into P after 3 or so seconds and this forces the EPB on... Thumbs Up

my 2016 L405 does not engage the EPB when switching off engine whilst in D !
I have always had to activate it myself

does anyone know if this is something that can be changed to happen automatically with my iiD tool ? various other LR's this one is still the best

Why wouldn’t this be the default setting ?

I’m really lazy - unless I’m on a steep gradient, I never apply the brake, I just leave the car in park

I get that I really should, if there’s a failure or the car is hit hard enough, it will move - so if the car is capable, I don’t understand why it’s defaulted off......... is there a down side ?
