i started it this morning, it messed around as usual, when it did idle it was running rough and i remembered what you said so i puled the plug off, the revs picked up and it idled a lot better RR 2005 4.4 petrol

United Kingdom 2003 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Java Black

Solution in my case was to replace the Air Flow Meter. When searching online try looking up the alternative part numbers. If I have the right one from LR Cat:

Land Rover - MHK000230
Bosch - 0 280 217 814
BMW - 13 62 1 433 567

Have been following your post, hope you get it sorted! Thumbs Up

fitted the wheel speed sensor
canceled the faults that i could but i couldn't cancel the ABS faults
the red ABS and the other red light went out, the air suspension inactive went off
cant find where to cancel the air bag fault
went for a drive, about 20km and every thing looks good, no red lights, no air suspension inactive RR 2005 4.4 petrol

Not getting anywhere with this engine
Engine light comes on at about 1200 revs
I do know it is missing on at least one cylinder
The icarsoft unit says it missing on the right bank (bank 1), it also says it has a camshaft timing fault
The GAP tool says no engine faults, it once said it had a 0x421 fault
I haven’t been able to find out what 0x421 means and I did ask BMW
As It had the camshaft timing fault before I bought it, before I changed the timing gear, I am not sure it is the timing that is out, it may be an electrical fault or a lack of oil pressure to the right vanos
I thought I would take it to the agents and get them to diagnose the engine problems
I thought I would go to BMW, it is there engine and they would have more experience than Rover
They didn’t want to do it and advised me to go to Rover
Today I went to a Rover mob that I trust, I have dealt with them a bit before
I asked them if they could do a diagnostic test on my car
“Yes certainly, what motor has it got”
“BMW”
“Scrap it, scrap it, just scrap it”
“O”
“we won’t touch them, they are a good motor while they are going but if they are not going properly, they are scrap, I will tell you what, have a look at this one”
We went out the back, he showed me a beautiful RR, said the owner had spent $10,000 having the motor fixed and it still wasn’t running right and sold it to them for scrap
said i could have it for $4000 its a 2002
