United States 2014 Range Rover 5.0 SC V8 Santorini Black
When is there going to be a new model?

I know we can all speculate but the USA forums are stating the l405 will be overhauled in 2021. I thought that was surprising usually the vogue follows a 10 year life cycle.

Do any of you guys have any idea or speculation? I was thinking with the losses JLR are reporting a new redesign is not even in the cards.

what are your thoughts

I read the thread in the US forum. Usually automakers start working on the next generation when the current one is still young. I imagine JLR already has the L460 well under way. Most rumor websites think a 2021 production time frame is likely which would be a 2022 and thus 9 year cycle. 2021 Mercedes G63 - Cardinal Red/Classic Red

Most likely scenario would be the reveal around this time next year with customer cars early 2021.

There are pictures of mules testing on some websites now.

the next model is codenamed L460. this is everything we know for sure as of now. however with recent new suv models from bentley and RR among others, range rovers flagship is not so far away. one can guess late 2021 as the reveal date, however we are yet to see any testing prototypes. we should see them early next year. we'll know more when we start seeing test mules.

The mules which were featured on a Spanish website a few weeks ago are now on Autocar as of today.

Is it me, or has it just lost the "class" or presence that the early 322 has...…

No - it’s in a totally different league to an early L322, you need to live with one especially a V8 to see what it can do. Compared to an early 322 they are worlds apart. I have had them all and no way would I go back Thumbs Up 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

I think it is more a case that when the L322 came out it was a cut above anything else available at the time. Now the L406 is just another SUV (albeit a very good one) in a crowded marketplace.

I really hope they spend their development pennies on improving reliability and quality for the L460 above everything else because it is the one thing that detracts from RR ownership.

Having said that, I will still be lining up to join the ranks of the JLR “in field development team” for one of the first L460s Rolling with laughter (Hoping it has a BMW V8 up front)

Hi Vogue

That's exactly what I mean, you would have to live with it to appreciate the difference, rather than admire it on the driveway.
Im not saying at all the L322 is a better car, I am sure the new one is more comfy, quieter, more refined, more toys, more reliable ish, corners better, more mpg and faster 0-60.
If they were giving one away, I wouldn't say no, but as 5.0 says, its just another posh SUV, and in my opinion it doesn't have the character or presence of the older model.

Rolls Royces, are the same classic example. Do you want your bride to arrive late in a classic Rolls Spirit or Phantom, or arrive on time in the latest bling Phantom...…… Laughing

Best wishes
