United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 V8 Santorini Black
New owner from RRS to FFRR ......

So I finally have take the plunge after looking at many. I’ve decided to go for a 2011 4.4 tdv8 AB in Santorini black the interior is stunning.

The drive feels amazing having moved from a 3.6 RRS. It moves so smoothly compared to RRS. The 8 speed is amazing!

Things I’ve had done
- full service including gearbox megaflush, trans oil, diff oils
- 2 stage machine polish with ceramic coating guaranteed for 3 years
- purchased by iid tool ( So many options, questions to follow)

Questions I have.
- I’m looking to install a detachable towbar. There are so many different ones. Where do the electrics come from? Mine has the design pack will a tow bar fit that? Could people post links to website to purchase this.

- the dealer included a 24 month gold rac warranty. Does anyone else use them are they any good? Not much infor on the search.
- the boot floor seems to be damp. Can’t figure out where’re the leak could be coming from?
- other than making some mods ie DRL, superlock with one click. Reading and clearing codes. Are the any other tips on useful things to do with the tool?

Anyway now for the pictures!!!!

Nice. What ceramic coating did they use?

The damp boot is probably the upper tailgate seal. They can leak at the corners or at the hinge.
Get them to sort it. Good luck with car. It looks stunning Thumbs Up 2007 Vogue TDV8 in Zermatt Silver with Charcoal

Re the towbar

Stick your VIN into vindercoderz.com and it should give a build list. Sometimes takes a few goes or the next day.

Look for TOW PREP.

Also, in the spare wheel well against the nearside rear bulkhead you should see a 13 pin grey socket. That's the fitted tow bar electrics. Plug and play. Westphalia do the OEM 'bar and details can be found on P F Jones web site. Lots of info but do shop around for comparison of costs. Not sure on the design pack as to whether you have to cut the bumper.

Nice looking car, enjoy. Cheers
Richard

It looks like you’ve done all the stuff that needs doing-i.e. gearbox oil etc, from what I’ve heard the 8 speed isn’t nearly as troublesome as the 6 speed (I had a 6 speed fail in my old RRS too) and the 4.4 TDV8 is pretty good too.
It looks great hope you have many happy, trouble free miles in her Thumbs Up .

Have you enabled the digital speedo with your iid ?
I find it very useful, particularly when in Europe, where you can have kmp hand mph showing.

Welcome back Thumbs Up

Look under the car and if you see a big cross member under the rear end with a hole in it, central, like this, then it has a bar fitting. If not you'll need the lot.

On fittability to a design pack, not sure but it may involve a cut out in the bumper. Seem to recall a thread somewhere, if I find it, I'll post here.

Info is comprehensive on the PFJones website for Westphalia units.

Did you find out if you had tow prep fitted? Cheers
Richard

The genuine removable tow bar should fit perfectly with the design pack. The car we looked at before buying the one we have had the design pack and a detachable tow bar on it.

The removable tow bar is made by Westfalia and comes in 3 components...

The main armature:

https://www.pfjones.co.uk/range-rover-towb...-only.html

For the tow bar itself you have 2 options... a removable one that's fixed:

https://www.pfjones.co.uk/land-rover-range...-only.html

Or the removable one that makes it a height adjustable tow bar:

Wiring wise, personally, I'd only buy it and the ECU from Land Rover as it's plug and play with no splicing of wires, etc. The wiring takes minutes with a genuine kit. I bought mine from Duckworths Land Rover who sponsor this site.

Just noticed that PF Jones also sell the complete kit too.

The towing electrics don't come with an ECU on a 2011 so, there is a plug inside the spare wheel hole and the electrics simply plug into that...
As above the Westfalia towbar kit fits with the design pack rear bumper but here's the PITA kicker! The electrics fit behind the lower removable centre cover so, you need to remove that every time you tow!
The only modification you will need to make it to that lower removable centre cover. If you go and take it off and look inside it, there is a scribe line for you to cutout the plastic so it fits around the towbar... Thumbs Up
