I have just remembered, I did have 1 small failure, just before Christmas.
Broken wire on N/S front giving Adaptive Suspension fail alarm. Fixed at nil cost, 5 minutes, with a soldering iron.
I have made a new bit of loom ready for next time it fails.

Mot passed with no advisories.
Incidentally he did the emissions test twice because he was getting a zero reading and it wouldn’t print out the first time.
Zero again on 2nd test so he just noted it.

Tempus Fugit.
Year 4 is over and I am pleased to report “pain free”.
I only did 4K miles this year, mainly because I didn’t take it on a Europe holiday trip for the first time in many years.
My only spend has been, new battery last July, and 2 lots of oil and filter c£80 each. and a new starter motor which I haven’t fitted yet because I have only had the dreaded click once.
It was still reading zero on this mornings MOT smoke test and the only comment made by the tester was, “I wish they were all this clean underneath”.

I did oil and filter change last month, but 12month old air and pollen filters still looked like new so put them back for another year. Just the fuel filter to change soon, but again not been in long.
New starter motor still in box waiting to be fitted, but it has worked 100% for last 2 months, so I keep putting job off.

When you remove the the plastic covers do you re-use the trim clips or need new ones?

Sorry Rob I got it done and didn’t see how many clips etc they needed to replace, but I have been under mine this morning whilst it was on the ramp at the MOT place .
He was very complimentary about how clean it was and how it will keep it in good condition for years., and that was at a Range Rover specialist independent. (AJR).

Mike,

I was just thinking, if you can get to the posts on the starter where the battery leads connect to, you could remove the leads and unscrew the nuts that keep the posts in place.

If you then push the posts into the solenoid, past the resistance of the O ring, and slightly out again, then you could get the spout of some electrical contact cleaner in, enough to maybe remove some of the carbon build-up that's making the starter intermittent.

FYI, Battery Just put a new one on mine, Yusa, cost £138.00 from GSF 4 yrs warranty cheapest I could find.

Today sees the start of Year 6 in my ownership.
Got off to a good start with an MOT pass and no advisories.

Most of the time when I read this forum I think am I the only one with relatively trouble free motoring surely there must be something wrong with my car - nice to have a kindred spirit.  Geoff

all MOT renewal dates have been extended 6 months, my missus was about to get her car MOT'ed and she went online and saw it had been extended to the end of the year - apparently something to do with COVID
