Sat nav update

Hi I recently purchased 2018 maps for my sat nav, i put the usb stick in and entered the activation code it all went well up to 30% then i opened the boot to get something out and whether it was coincidence or not the install stayed on 30% for another hour at which point I turned it off. Last night I had a 5 hour drive but after 2 hours it was still on 30% so I stopped turned off the engine and removed the usb I locked the doors waited and then put the stick back in and continued my drive. Unfortunately it’s now stuck in annoying loop where it says: a problem has occurred with the navigation map update, please check disc and restart download to continue. There is only a cancel button which when I press it just leaves the sat nav sitting on 30% I left it overnight without the stick in but I get a message: loading of map paused please insert disc to restart download. If I do this it’s back to the 1st message. It’s really annoying as I feel there must be a way of going back to the start but I can’t work it out, any ideas would be great! Range Rover

the method as i know is to put the usb stick in and let it load, you can switch off the engine and download will resume on your next journey and so on..
you must not remove the usb stick until its fully downloaded.. ... - .- -.

Sounds broadly like what happened to me - mine got stuck on 30% on a single 2 1/2 hour run

I was told you could stop/start the car etc and it would resume - what no one made clear was that I would have no music or Sat Nav during the upgrade Big Cry

Mine turned out to be a defective USB - the replacement worked just fine

Unfortunately, due to my excitement at new maps, I started the upgrade on my way home from the airport on a Friday - had the return run on Monday in silence - then t eh replacement wasn’t with me but the following weekend, so another return trip in silence - but the next week I was finally able to get new maps and my music back Very Happy

From my experience it can get stuck at a certain point, but will resume if left long enough. My record is start process at noon and finished round 21:00! Pertol cost still less than saving by doing it myself.

Thanks maybe I’ll just leave it in then and see what happens, like Alastair I probably didn’t pick the best time - as we spent a 5 hour drive to the Loire without music and it’s looking like it will be the same going back - lesson learnt! Range Rover

I bet you’re popular with the family - at least I was driving on my own.

I‘d contact the seller and tell them what’s happened - mine was happy enough just to send me a new usb.

If yours is similar, then you may as well ask now and have it there waiting when you get home.

I'm assuming that the USB stick is legit. Where could I buy such a thing and for how much please?

Only legit purchases can be discussed on here - so main dealer or JLR web site

There are other sources - hence I just used the term ‘seller’......

Just a quick update to say the seller sent a new usb out and all is good, no more silent trips - everyone gets to listen to my playlists once again!
It went from 30% to 100% in just under an hour. Range Rover

Yes there is - it’s a USB update - tied to your VIN which you will need to supply

Any main dealer can supply an official maps update or you can order on line -

https://landrover.navigation.com/product/C...ID=Catalog

There are apparently alternative sources, but I couldn’t possibly comment Whistle
