Brake Discs TD6

Purchased a set of discs and pads (front and rear) for my 52 TD6 2 years ago (Pagid) and fitted them without any issues. Last December failed MOT for hand brake issues - caused by wrong size discs (too small) . Thought no more about it (cost 600+ to get it through the MOT) . Yesterday after moving the vehicle down the drive I thought it was a bit sluggish so, what with the good weather , thought I would check the brakes and break the Waxoyl out.Found both front sets of pads delaminated ! , and yes , after checking pads to discs - too small discs again ! New pads fitted to get the car back up the drive and not going to use until I get some more (correct size ) discs. Annoying to say the least as both sets were ordered from Eurocarparts 2 years ago using my reg details to get the correct vehicle and parts. Discs are approx 90 each so has turned out to be an expensive issue ! does someone know the correct size discs for an 52 plate TD6 and have any links to a set of decent ones ? Have used pattern parts x 3 now (site sponsor , Mintex and Pagid - all reputable brands) - 2 x warped and the Pagid ones supplied all round were too small ! The TD6 has done less than 2400 miles on the discs and pads .

Thanks Stan , forgot to get the WM out ! Very Happy Just looking for some decent discs now . As a side note when I had a Volvo XC70 Eurocarparts also sent too small front discs for that so it's not a one off Sad

Try site sponsors Advanced Factors. Got my brake discs and pads from them as a job lot a few years ago and have never had any problems. Thumbs Up

I purchased a front set from Advanced Factors a few years ago and they did 500 miles and warped , hence the Pagid ones. Just had a quick browse at the AF web site and they list a few more options now so may go with them again Wink

I purchased a complete set of front suspension arms from Advanced Factors about 3 years ago. At the MOT in December 2017 I had an advisory that there was wear in the bush in the lower rear arms. Had the same again last December and now they are beginning to knock as well, so going to change them for Powerflex ones. Not good as the car has not even done 20,000 miles on these.

Had a look at another FF in the local super market car park yesterday and , as I suspected , the braking surface of the disc goes from the outside edge down to the hub , unlike the Pagid ones fitted on mine which goes from the outside of the disc to halfway down with a step . As per the attached photo - you can see how the pads overlap the disc ! I have seen it mentioned that the discs on the TD6 are the same at the front as the 4.4 , is anyone able to confirm this please .

The braking system on the TD6 changed to TRW components in 2005, so I wonder if you have the later discs on your 52 plate car. I guess if the pads were wrong, they wouldn't fit in the calipers.

Hi,

I'm guessing you bought these online?

The £90 Pagid ones are for chassis number 6A000001 onwards and the friction surface has a gap around the hub, part number 104670188.

The correct discs for a 52 TD6 are 104670148, (£101.99 + vat) add the promo code and they are £101.99 for the pair.

Went with Pagid again and they were delivered 20 minutes after placing the order with EuroCarParts !!! Checked and this time they are the correct ones Smile Used the discount code MID50 and got both for 101.99 (priced individually at 127.99) so happy with the price .
