MG Midget Mk 1 Restoration

My story, not even half way there, and it has taken me 15 years to get to this point! But here it is, I'll update here when there has been some more progress Wink

Very impressed Tim. I would love to restore a car... I don't think I manage my time very well as I cant see how I could fit any more hours into my day to have the time to do it Big Cry Previously..

Finally, after 22 years off the road, and a restoration that started in October 2008 (so that is 11 years in the making), the MG is back on the road Very Happy

This was a proper remove every item and every last nut and bolt rebuild. Believe it or not, the hardest part was recovering the seats, still not quite right, but they might wear into place.

Fitted with a 1275 engine - leaded head, so using Castrol Valvemaster, oil cooler, electric fuel pump, front disc brakes, ARB, telescopic adjustable rear dampers, but only a 4.22 diff (might look to swap out for a 3.7 to give it longer legs on the motorway), straight through bomb exhaust, standard electrics/ignition. Runs a bit rich, but hey ho. I gave it a new wiring loom, and plan an alternator and halogen lights, oh and there is a stereo to fit Wink

Getting in and driving it for the first time was like putting on a pair of comfy old slippers, everything felt just right. Goes like a train, and remarkably comfortable. Sweet spot for engine/exhaust @ 3600rpm in top, but sounds superb at 5000rpm Twisted Evil

It will get used, I don't intend for it to be a shrine to restoration and just sit in the garage under covers, and will not put up the roof if I don't have to...
