Range Rover SC 2009 vs 2010-2012

Hi everyone,

I am getting a good deal on the updated RR SC September 2009 onwards reg. I wanted to find out what mechanical and cosmetic changes were brought about in later years from 2010 onwards and if they are a more reliable option to go for.

Many thanks.

the SC was a 4.2 engine till 2009 so this one you are looking at should be a 5.0.....loads on this on the forum.. ... - .- -.

Thanks Stan. Yes, I am indeed looking at the 5.0 SC. I am not sure what changes were made in 2010 onwards.

To her 5.0 it must be a 2010 model year. So the question is more what changes were made in 2011 & 2012. There were some meaningful tweaks in 2011 model year, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Range_Rover_(L322)

Quote:
The 2011 model year Range Rovers include minor styling changes, improved interiors and an upgraded 4x4 system as well new optional packages.[10] A new 4.4-litre TDV8 diesel engine became available with a new ZF 8HP70 eight-speed automatic transmission. There are also new leather and wood colours, as well as reclining rear seats with winged headrests. A new Autobiography Black model features a different grille, Barolo Black paintwork, and a choice of Jet/Ivory or Jet/Pimento interiors.

^ These were an option

MY2010 (2009) introduced the last L322 facelift, with interior updates such as the TFT LCD Dash.

The big news for MY2010 was the 5.0 replacing the 4.2

For the 5.0 there were not that many changes between the MY2010 (2009) and MY2011

. Cheers, Greg

Thanks. So if I understand right, there were some cosmetic changes. Many more changes in the diesel versions with the new gearbox. So in terms of engine reliability, there is no difference between 5.0 SC 2010 vs. 2012?

I think for 2011 they brought in the multi parking camera surround vision, or perhaps it just that it became standard in 2011?

I've got a 2010 5.0SC and having also looked over a couple of 2011/12 cars when I was buying, I couldn't notice anything else of any significance that had changed.

I believe the headlights have black (rather than grey) plastic surrounds on the 2012 cars? but again, nothing significant.

My middle of 2011 model year Vogue SE doesn’t have surround cameras, or adaptive lights or the HD hifi. Does have Dual view and adaptive cruise control though.

in that case, I've got no idea. Perhaps just all the 2011 cars i looked at had it as a selected option.

Mine's an autobiography though, so presume the kit included as standard was different. it does have adaptive lights, HD hifi, Dual view and adaptive cruise control.

As far as the original question goes, 2010MY (LCD screen etc) was a massive change, after that I'd just pick a well looked after example that has all(or most) of the options that you want fitted.
