Mr Angry from Wales

Parked my car in a local car park today and returned to find that some dirty Censored Censored Censored had stolen the silver coloured trim on the rear near side. The bit under the rear light that goes around to the rear wheel arch.

To say I’m fuming is an understatement.

Called into local businesses around the car park to see if they had cctv covering the car park and one thinks they might and they are going to check but don’t hold my breath.

Called the Police and they gave me a crime number and told me that they are not going to do anymore unless the images on the cctv are crystal clear.

Annoying that it's most likely another FFRR owner who has grazed theirs in a reversing incident.....

Criminals need to work hard these days to get police interest.

I had a wing mirror smashed off while I was parked and sitting in the car.

Not cctv Smile police weren’t that interested and only begrudgingly got involved when I told the a replacement with cameras and blind spot monitor would be £1,000.

These motion cctv cameras you can fit are the only solution these days. If u can do police’s job for them they will do the last bit. --

I can't wait for the days when you can option a AI Robot for your car that will jump out and protect your car, by jumping out, ripping the thieves arms off and beating them around the head with their severed limbs .

Sorry to hear of this and hope the CCTV checks reveal some useful images.

Are there any local social media groups you could put the word out on in case any individual had a dash cam running in their own car in that car park at the time?

Looks like it's either a rogue owner or repairer that's taken the opportunity to snatch the part from your car. If you had the time and inclinatio, maybe a mooch around the local area to see if any back street bodyshops / repairers in the vicinity. A long shot but could be worth a try.

All the best and hope you get this sorted. Current

Swines! I can empathise with your anger and frustration. Lets hope there is CCTV and they can be caught. Parts for a FFRR are not cheap.

I once gave a police officer a mouthful when he simply suggested "well your insured aren't you sir?" as if that somehow negated his responsibility to catch the scumbags.

This isn't a moan at individual officers - I couldn't do their job but as a force they are rapidly being neutered by socio, economic and political agendas. Get broken into or have something stolen? - a CRN is all you can expect but "Offend" someone on social media - you'll have 5 cars outside your door in minutes! Laughing

I totally feel your pain. Like said it’s got to be a ffrr owner else why would it be taken? Although I’d like think the kind of people that own this kind of car are not that kind of person?? Even if you had a motion cam on board and had proof I really can’t see the police doing anything. its 5hit!! The detachable tow bar got nicked off our discovery while the wife was shopping one day. This I can kind of understand because the thieves know what they’re worth but a piece of trim Rolling Eyes

of course it may not be a FFRR owner directly - but perhaps a scumbag "backstreet" garage who said "I'll have to order the part sir" Rolling Eyes

I'm sure all us FFRR owners are fine upstanding people.....well, except the footballers and the drug dealer owners Laughing

Come to think of it I’ve watched that video and I’m sure you have to remove the rear light to remove that piece of trim and to remove the light you need the tailgate open. Wtf!!

Just watched again. You don’t have to remove the rear light but you do have to have the tailgate open else you’d never get it out without breaking it.

Felstmiester, I don’t think you have to have the tailgate open as you can see in the photos of the missing trim side and normal side.
I’m glad to see that the thieving Censored Censored did not damage any other part of my car or the paintwork Thumbs Up

Anyway, further update, no news from the CCTV people Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

And Cardiff Stratstone never fail to disappoint. Immediately after finding the part missing on Wednesday I went straight there and they said they would order the part and they would have it by Thursday and they would ring and fit it straight away for me Shocked Shocked

It’s now Friday and Ive rang them as I have not heard from them. By all accounts 2 trim pieces have arrived but they are the wrong colour silver Whistle Whistle but they should have the correct one in tomorrow and they are going to ring me in the morning.
