Got to flog the Honda as I've bought its replacement.

It's been my dream bike since it came out in 2011, but I've been waiting for a bargain. This is a 2015 model with all the options apart from stupid extra lights that I don't like anyway.

It's very comfortable, but you can also really throw it around should you wish. Straight six engine is like a turbine - absolutely fab.

Only problems - it's a bit too wide to drive through my gate with the panniers on, so I generally leave them off unless I need them, and the seat's too low. I'm only 5' 6' so BMW must've really thought 'it's a big heavy bike so let's put a very low seat on it'. You can get a 2" higher seat, but they're quite expensive.

That's a very nice bike Red Merle. I've always liked them, shame they stopped making them, but it was never a big seller.

Love the new colour. Why did you change it instead of just buying a red one?

Thanks Kurt. Sadly, they sold so very few - as a result of a declining market, hopeless marketing and dealers who didn't understand the product. I remember going to the original launch at the main dealers at Exeter and they didn't have a clue. Nice bike to ride though Very Happy

Sadly, their colour choice was only ever blue, or blue shade of silver.

After about four years they replaced one of those colours with black. I don't understand why they spent so much developing it and then, as soon as it was launched, just did next to nothing with it.

There are quite a few people that take them apart and colour them in as they please Thumbs Up

I second this sentiment, love the red and gold combination (I have a car with a red body and gold wheels too!)

Yes, everyone wants an adventure bike to go touring on. Why don't they buy a touring bike to go touring on, they're much better at it?

Anyway, red is such a noble colour. The bike looks very nice.

Glad you like the colour Thumbs Up

The funny thing it, I test rode Triumph's Tiger 1200 Adventure bike alongside the Trophy in 2013. I bought the Tiger and, er, went touring on it Rolling Eyes

I bought the Trophy to go alongside it in the Spring and now the poor old Tiger doesn't get a look in! The comfort, the space, the weather protection mean that I now take the bike, when I might otherwise take the Fatty Thumbs Up But, like I did, everyone goes and tours on an adventure bike Rolling Eyes
