Dangerous front 'cruising lights' ?

On my way home around dusk this evening, at a roundabout an RR sport at glance appeared to be to be turning left with an orange light on the near side, giving me a chance to move forward but the car behind no signal so thankfully I waited to give way. The RR Sport went straight on which reminded me that I'd noticed on my L405 the normal side light markers are indicator orange colour. For years in the US they've had so called orange 'cruising lights' which are on all the time but flash on and off when turning. Not here in the UK though, so it's not plugged in to the mind. Anyone else have any thoughts on this ?
