2017MY v 2016MY

Hi fellow forum members. Still a newbie here. Still trying to purchase my first LR. So I have narrowed down that I want at least a 16MY> because of adblue and ulez. Ideally an AB as you get 360camera and massage seats. These cars are anywhere from £38k up. I now realise that the 17MY dash/infotainment system is so much more better. Problem is an AB on a 17plate is £50k and up.

I could get an SE with high miles for £45k

What do you think.

16MY AB or 17MY SE ??

Ultimately you've just got to prioritise your needs / wants - life is like that, you'll always talk yourself up in small increments.

if ULEZ is top then go from there. Then list the actual features you want and look for a car with those. There are very few bits that are AB only, so trying to find them on a VSE just requires a more in depth search....

There was just one item that was standard on the AB, that couldn’t be added to the VSE, that meant I had no choice than to buy an AB. It was the extended leather pack (doors, ceiling, dash top, centre console especially). If that doesn’t matter to you, a VSE is absolutely fine - as long as the original owner has added any sensible bits that you might need Thumbs Up

Don’t get hung up on the wheels that are fitted as they’re easily swapped over and there’s a fairly brisk trade in them!

Just to muddy the waters, my AB is a 16 plate, NOT Adblue but still ULEZ compliant. At least according to the website checker. Thumbs Up

Biggest factor for me was the updated infotainment system on the MY17, so much better than the old one, plus apple car play, Android etc

I think the 2017 Infotainment system is far better than the previous. I had that in a D4 and it was at best a bit clunky and at worst, way too slow to use. The added benefit of the newer Sat Nav which is leagues ahead of the old Denso system just sealed the deal for me. I would go for the 17MY if funds allow. I'm no different to anyone else when it comes to choosing a car and generally start sensible but then see all the toys I could have for just a bit more. That bit more ends up being at least another leg with an arm already spent. Be warned.
