Bovee 1000 dropping out

Been using a Bovee 1000 in the L322. Ever since I had it it occasionally drops out and won't reconnect with the car. You can see the blue light flashing and the phone clearly shows it not connected. Then, when it connects it seems to drop out again as soon as you ask it to do anything (ie show albums or whatever). When it works, it's brilliant, but this is driving me up the wall. Anyone else had similar? Drives:

I had one for a week and returned it. Between the dropping out and the annoying auto play of music when I just wanted to use it to just hear Waze directions. Their customer support was infuriating just sending me email after email of standard connectivity instructions...

Does yours autoplay music when it does auto connect? Are you able to pause music and still hear nav directions from nav on the phone? Many thanks

Hi all. I added a Bovee to my 2012 Westminster. Mine also works some days, but not others. Only had it for a week.

I have seen a few 'issues' messages, however is there anyone in RR world that has faultless service from their Bovee?

Just wondering!

Bovee itself has no control over your music. That is a phone setting you've got to change. Think of it like a Bluetooth headset as thats really what it is and look for autopsy settings related to that or in your phones Bluetooth control panel.

As for dropping out, I have 2 bovee units in 2 different L322s, both MY12 and I see it on occasion. I'd suspect it's more related to the Bluetooth on the phone as I've fot 1 phone which it does it on and an older phone it does not. 2012 L322 SC Ipanema Sand

If only it was as simple as disabling auto play - there is no auto play setting that I can find on iOS 12 and that’s the issue. I also have an Anker Bluetooth unit which doesn’t cause the phone to auto play so it’s definitely something related the the Bovee even if it’s the iPhone that’s controlling the music. Also with the anker either the Bluetooth device or the phone can be used to play/pause whereas with the Bovee it will only pause from the car screen. Bovee support think it’s the in car system that’s the issue not the phone or the Bovee unit.

I hear what you're saying but your perspective is purely anecdotal and cannot be taken as fact.

The only real way that the Bovee could impact this is if you had a really old one with an outdated bluetooth stack. Highly unlikely that this would present an issue but it is the only possibility in regards to the bovee itself.

it's not the Bovee or we'd all have the same issues you do, and we do not. I do not have all these issues with my Android phones. Perhaps you should upgrade out of IOS and into Android. I am running Pie on 1 and Nougat on the other.

The other option as Bovee support mentioned is it being your IHU and Radio firmware. We'd all have to pull our current Radio firmware and compare.

Honestly though, it's your phone as The bovee has no way of knowing to play music or triggering your phone to play music. It is purely an audio gateway like a headset. 2012 L322 SC Ipanema Sand

I think more circumstantional than anecdotal but semantics aside what’s the explanation that the same phone doesn’t auto play on the Anker Bluetooth but does on the bovee? That to me rules out the handset as being the primary cause.

It must be down to either the head unit or how the Bovee interacts with the head unit.

Having spent some time with an android phone again recently I won’t be switching to android any time soon. I get that it works for a lot of people but I just don’t like it.

I will upgrade to iOS 13 once the first dot release is out but until then I’d rather sacrifice the on screen track name and steering wheel controls and use the Anker for now.

This may give you some insight to your issue: sounds morw like an iTunes/iOS issue tho. 2012 L322 SC Ipanema Sand

Thanks, hadn't seen that article but seen something similar. Hopefully they've fixed it in IOS 13.
