Sat nav radio etc

Evening guys, how about this for a first post!
Literally just picked up a 2011 vogue se, 4.4 tdv8, seems a lovely car, drives perfectly on the way home no knocks bangs or rattles, I got around 60 miles into the journey and the radio turned itself off, then on again pretty much instantly so I didn't think to much about it, about another 5 miles it done the same thing but the nav screen also went blank, stayed off for a few seconds then on again, on for about a second then off for a few minutes then tried to reboot, when this happened I noticed the indicator light on the dash wouldn't work, the clock on the dash also not on, and some intermittent window raising and lowering problems as well!
It carried on trying to reboot the rest of the journey.
When I got home ( about another 40 miles) I switched off then tried to restart, nothing, just telling me key not recognised, digital dash not lit up.
I left the car for a couple of minutes and tried again, all working, then radio cut out and nav etc after a couple more minutes.
I have left it now and will have a look in the morning, it seems like it may be a can bus type of issue and I'm wondering if there is any known problems that will give me a starting point.
The car was private and has no warranty and to be honest the price was right, I don't know so much about these vehicles as have been running a d3 for the last 6 years.

Edit
I have a iid bt but have not added this vin yet
Thanks for reading this and hope you may be able to shed some light.

IID is the way to go, I just wonder if it's all overheating.

There are cooling fans on the dash etc Current: 2011 FFRR Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

May be of some use, may not. Had a similar issue with head unit momentarily turning on and off few weeks back. Noticed it happening the same time as other systems were drawing power. Didn't think too much of it as dash as been apart more times than i care to remember recently for one reason or another, but that's another story....

Anyhow. Few days later fired up to go to work, started then cut out, refused to restart. Censored ! fuel pumps gone was my initial thought. Scanned later when home to find fuel pump fault code. Tested power in / out of relay, 12v. Hmmm. Powered pump direct, whirred away like a good 'un. Hmmm again.Loaded circuit, bingo, shyte connection into fuse board.

Turns out main 12v in ( thick red wire ) on rear fuse board was loose and arcing due to some monkey cross threading the nut. Stripped off, re-threaded and good contacts made, fired straight up, no further problems with head unit cutting out either. Just wondering if something similar is happening to yours 2006 4.2 SC

Certainly worth a look, it has been stood for a while, although the at it starts you wouldn’t think it’s that.

the FF has a knack of diverting power to where it needs it if the battery is under par....it will keep the ciggy lighter sockets off and sometimes the nav screen as well..
if yours is happening whilst driving then it could also be the alternator at fault... ... - .- -.

Evening fellas, a quick up date on the problems with the car, I have changed the battery, pulled apart all connections etc in the rear N/s boot area and sprayed with contact cleaner and re-connected, I haven't had the opportunity to take it on an extended test yet so not certain it's got it but am hopeful.
Charge rate checked and is good.
I have fitted a couple of new tyres on the front, worked out how to check the engine oil level ( what a ball ache that is!) new wipers, rtfm and after a valet it's ready to go.
