If I drop my bonnet, it just goes "thud".

If you try and push it down after the thud is there any spring back are is it locked in? Current stable:

The "thud" is like a pickaxe hitting concrete on a dead straight down stroke. THUD

mine shuts perfectly when dropped from about 20 cm. if its not latching when dropped then it may be that the rubber stops want winding down slightly.

I wind the rubber stops out all the way and they still don’t catch? Current stable:
