Think I read somewhere where it said it did a 30 min cycle?
But then I would have thought the fbh would stop once the car was started?

Did you start the FBH by remote/touch screen? If not, it's supposed to assist in heating the engine, not cabin. And a 10 minute drive is not enough to achieve enough heat for the FBH to shut down.
When you stop the engine the FBH will go into cool-down and stop when cold enough. 2007 L322 3.6 TDV8 Stornoway

It runs to aid the engine and cabin warm up. When you stop it needs to cool down a little before shutting down after a short run, mine does exactly that. BMW i3 Electric Car

On my td6 the fbh was still running after a 12 mile drive last winter (and yes I have changed the stat for a genuine one at £80) it seems that the fbh runs till the gauge gets to about a third way up, so far up the gauge is yours ?
