L405 AB - nearly 4 weeks in

Hi,

Been looking at this site for a long time before eventually buying my car and the information was invaluable. Thumbs Up Decided to buy from main dealer a 2015 4.4 AB in black, great condition inside and out. Only had one issue when it came to checking the oil level could never get a reading. Tried all the recommended actions from here but still nothing. Went back to main dealer and he told me to try all the things I had already done.

Eventually got car booked in to sort out. Barring in mind the car has been with me less than 4 weeks and had gone through the 160 plus checks was very surprised to get a video showing faults with the car, missing screws in under tray, split bottom joint rubber and large oil / water leak (suspected oil cooler).

Now all this is getting sorted under warranty but clearly this should have been sorted before hand and more worryingly I don’t think the oil level was working from the start so even oil level couldn’t have been checked. No surprise the warranty is only 1 year now if all pre-sales work is getting pushed on to warranty company at a later date.

Oil reading : open the bonnet and then the oil level is available at all times
160 point check : Buy a car elsewhere ? take it to another dealer ? its standard practice to find loads of faults -- it creates a warranty claim with lots of chargeable hours , standard practice I am afraid .

Like I said tried all the normal things to get oil measurement, seems it’s a faulty sensor which must have been there when I collected the car. For clarification the car was bought from the same dealer that the car is at now having the work done. So in less than 4 weeks all these issues have appeared since they did a “comprehensive“ inspection. Agree with other post just shoddy dealer work.

There is no dipstick on the modern engines and everything needs to be checked via the dash - yet another component to go wrong!!! "UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" ------is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" ----is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" -----------is how far you take the fence with you.

LOL Japseroony : what I was saying was that the dash oil indicator is inhibited at certain times however if you open the bonnet the dash will read out at all times .

Yes it not the fact there were faults these things happen but clearly it had not had the inspection done. Car back now and all seems good.

Interesting they loaned me a sport with the petrol 3 litre very quick once moving and sounded great but 20 mpg and not as nice as mine apart from the bigger screen with CarPlay 😂
