Hi All,

My 53 plate TD6 with 71k miles has developed a shudder from the transmission. it hapens when you ease up to a slow rest or are gently pulling away. (doesn't occur when pulling away with a bit of revs)

is this a comon symptom?

there doesn't seem to be any guidance on changing transmission fluid at the service intervals - what's best practice to follow?

This topic has been covered a fair few times, there is a detailed "how to" here somewhere. The GM box requires a fluid change every 50K - LR say the box is sealed for life - this is the life of the warranty. I've covered this various times in the past, recently here:

If you do the change yourself make sure you use genuine parts and exactly the correct fluid (listed in the WiKi). Don't take it to a Land Rover dealer, they wont do it, don't take it to a LR Indy because more than likely they won't have ever done one and the oil levels is a PITA to get right. Search yellow pages for a gearbox specialist as they will have worked on your box or variants of. The danger is that someone who doesn't know what they are doing will short or over fill it and it will pop after 5K.

Expect to pay £125 - £175
