Hi drivers outer door handle not returning fully sticks out about 5mm could this be weak a spring in the handle maybe and has anyone had any luck fixing it?

Hi Dunc

Firstly, what's your FF model and does the handle push back flush if you ease it in Smile

I would hope that the door handle mechanism would be the same or similar on all L322s, but you know JLR, thus looking at the WM (in the Wiki) for the 2011-12 it appears there is a return spring and a mass balance which could either need lubricating on the contact area or the spring is loosing tension. Either way it cold be a door card off and that is best done with car trim tools. AND the airbag's in there too!

If you're in the door it may be well worth your while changing the lock operating cables at that time. They do go and there are lots of threads on here about changing them. Cheers

Thanks for the reply rjff and my ffrr is a 2004 vogue td6 door card is already off due to having to replace window switches. The handle will push back flush but returns to sticking out around 3mm. It could well be the drivers door handle cable maybe it has stretched through use maybe?

Mmmm I wonder Dunc

If you take the cable out of the door handle does the handle return to the flush position? (as you have the door card off ) If not perhaps clean and lubricate it. That would indicate as you say a problem with the cable being stretched or fouling somewhere.

Probably done all that but a really good clean and lube would be good anyway.

Let us know how you get on. Cheers
