Sure this has been asked before but...

Hi Chaps

Well I am now the proud owner of a 2020 FF 5 ltr V8 SV Autobiography with lovely 22" alloys and was thinking as its getting close to winter maybe I should buy some alternate wheels and tyres.

My question is what size wheel can I go down to as I see on the "LR Build Your Own" I could have gone for a 21" alloy but I am not sure if you can source decent winter tyres for that size wheel or if I could get away with a 20" alloy as I know you can get Goodyear Duratrac (really like the Duratrac's and can get them at Costco discounted) in that size?

As she is the SV Autobiography I think she may have slightly larger calipers than std (really not sure though) and they are the LR version of the Brembo's - I know they used to be Brembo brakes at one time but they are now branded Land Rover!

Many thanks for an assistance offered Thumbs Up "UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.

The 565 BHP has the same size brakes (380 mm front, 365 mm rear) as all the other models in the range with the exception of the SDV6 (349 front, 325 rear). So I would be surprised if 20" did not fit although I cannot confirm unfortunately.

If you have just bought the SVA then presumably you have a fund of goodwill with the supplying dealer. Why not ask them to take a set of 20" wheels off one of their stock cars and try them on yours to see if they will fit?

I'm aware that 20" wheels are n/a on the SVA configurator, that might be to do with speed rating requirements, you will recall that the 255/55R20 Durataracs are rated only at 99mph. The other context is that the 5.0SC is rated to 155moh only when fitted with 22" wheels, otherwise 130 or 135 I think.

When the 255/55R20 Duratracs were available elsewhere in the world but not in the UK I called Goodyear and they were very helpful on the topic, including confirming that, subject to the speed rating, they were OK for the 5.0SC (510 bhp at that time). Only Range Rovers since 1988

The 20's certainly fit nicely on the SDV8, which uses the same discs and brakes albeit, I believe, unpainted.

Yes, lots of goodwill but they are 130 miles away so not that easy to get there etc although the drive out would be good Thumbs Up

Yes I am aware of the speed rating thank you, but 99mph is sufficient over the winter months for me and had them on my Disco so was very happy with them Wink "UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.

I bought 21’s for mine, but my wife didn’t like them so ended up with 22’s for the winter too. They have lasted well so far Thumbs Up

On 20” you can go up to 285/50/20 without issue - I fit Cooper AT’s for the winter shooting season instead of the Conti’s and 22” Turbines - it’s a nice change going both ways as the 22” handle brilliantly but the 20” eat anything off road 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17
