Is it worth bothering using IID to switch on DRLs?

From a safety point of view I am a fan of DRL's. Especially now most cars have them, so other road users get used to seeing them before pulling out etc, so those cars without DRLs are more at risk of not getting noticed at that quick glance.

I've been reading / searching on here for info on this, discovered you can switch the LED side lights to a DRL funtion via the IID tool. However, are they any good? Are they standard sidelight brightness? Because in daylight that probably isn't bright enough.

I will buy one of these tools, but could do with waiting a little while before I do. But if these are worth switching on I'll buy sooner.

Thoughts / experiences?

Yes sorry, I only put a deposit down yesterday (after lurking on here for a short while) I'll update that info next

That's a shame. I did notice some of these. Really don't want them to look aftermarket though, which I think these might.

Personally, I think those in the link will look a bit "Halfrauds".

I have a 2003 Vogue L322 that I would like to use the front fogs as DRL's - I don't want to change the lights in any way as they are not too bad as fogs.

Is is possible to use them as such without interfering with the bulb monitoring or are they not monitored ?

I've enabled it on mine - looks fine and any extra light is better then nothing. Gavin

I enabled them on mine, fronts only, but have I dreamt that their is an option to enable fronts and rears on 2011’s ??
Norway setting or similar?
If so I would be tempted to change them, particularly for the winter months when I often find myself switching the sidelights on during daylight hours due to poor weather conditions.

Whilst I have my 'fairy lights' switched on, I quite like the idea of DRL's in the fog hole (!)

The powerfuluk ones linked up above have a weird light shape, couldn't find ones (with the 4-bolt fitment) with ring DRL outer and fog interior.

Thought that would look good if I could find ones like that. Cheers, Greg

The last ones are like you describe I think?
