Which axle stands?

About to change starter motor and decided I should get some new stronger axle stands that are suitable for a nigh on 3 tonne vehicle.

So what do you use?

Ratchet or pin?
What minimum/ maximum height range?

Read some horror stories re very poor welding etc so recommendations very welcome. 2012 tdv8 Westminster arrived Jan 19 gone Dec 23

I bought these from SGS Engineering a while ago;

Rachet and pin and really good quality like most SGS stuff. You don't need 2t per stand but I like the idea that they have a greater weight bearing capacity than I need. Current: FF Westminster money pit

I got the sgs 12 tonne total as they are much bigger so more solid base and you don't need to raise as high and I know massive over kill but for the extra cost staying safer seemed a no brained. They have a pin that goes through to be safe from knocking the arm up. You do need a high lift jack to get the height for them though. Current 2007 TDV8 Vogue Buckingham Blue
