Alternator output on td6 please ?

Hi all had a new alternator fitted about 4-5 mth ago ive just checked the output due to lazy starting and i have changed battery and starter motor but the alternator is putting out 13.3 to 13.4 volts is this right as i checked the wifes volvo and that puts out 14.2 to 14.5 thats where i thought all 12v cars had to charge around that sort of numbers thanks guys

The alternator output varies according to the charge level of the battery and the equipment running on the car.
13.3-4V is way too low and indicates a fault.
My own Td6 generally runs at 14.1 or 14.2V and has done for years and keeps the battery fully charged.
If you have a set of jump leads try connecting from the engine block somewhere to the earth jump stud on top of the strut mount and see if there is any improvement for a start.

Thanks guys i thought it was too low that not enough to charge a battery of that size where abouts are the engine to body earth lead (s) on the td6 i will try the jump lead trick though that worked on one of my old cars few years ago

I have been having battery issues recently and can confirm that at normal tickover the alternator output is 14.1v / 14.2v .
Battery drain with everything off after 30 mins on my car was 35mah, well within the 50mah max suggested in test manuals. 2007 TDV8 VSE

Thumbs Up
Amazing how many times an old earth strap causes problems.
That's why I always fit a supplementary earth strap to any car I buy as a matter of course.
