On my last MOT the tester could not get any reading only Zero, so he repeated the test with lots of revs but it still read Zero and he could not print out the results, so he just signed it and said, it’s fine.

Well here is something I have never seen before I had the engine remapped and the EGR deleted.

On a run from Coventry to Milton Keynes, a combination of motorway and country roads, cruise control at 50mph through road works and 70mph when unrestricted.

Another thing I've noticed, the engine ticks over nearly a 100rpm slower after the remap.

I'm itching to get mine's EGR mapped out but not desiring any extra performance, the cost is hard to justify although I've not considered any financial benefit from an anticipated reduced fuel consumption.

I had the remap done by a company called (Remap Kings) a bit of a naff name I know, they charge £295 to remap a Range Rover, not bad as they have to remove the ECU. They had a promotion on during January and February of a £100 off, so I paid £195. You pay a £50 deposit when you make a booking and the balance when you are satisfied with the result.
Whey they came to me I explained I was concerned the the toque on the gearbox was nearing its maximum of 700Nm and I was looking for a bit more pick up from a standing start. The 4.4 has plenty go when it's on the move.
The map produced 68 more BHP and an increase in toque of 70Nm, other map specs I have seen show Toque increase of 100Nm or more so I was satisfied with this nominal increase. At the end of the remap they do a error code test, mine should I had an error code for the EGR valve, he offered to turn the valve off in the map and If I had any problems or my Indy (who was on holiday at the time) felt it should not be turned off he would, when he was in my area again turn it back on again. Anyway I bought an £8 blanking plate off eBay to complete the job, took 10 minutes. As you can see from my earlier posts I have had the emission tested as all OK. To sum up all I can say is the car runs much better especially from a standing start. I have intentionally done lots of short journeys, to see if I can encourage the DPF warning light to come on, no problem as yet. Plus the thought of all that gunk not going back through the manifold makes me feel better. Time will tell.

Interesting Thumbs Up
Silly question but do you have a rotary gear selector or a more conventional lever? 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

My thoughts exactly. Plenty of pickup if the throttle is pressed hard enough to keep 2000+ rpm but there should not be any need for such revs and noise. I wonder if just a little more torque at 1200-1300 rpm would satisfy the gearbox torque requirement to allow the torque converter to be locked - either that or reprogram the gearbox which isn't an option. When I idle along roughish tracks (eg my 2km driveway) probably in 3rd gear the engine pulls like the proverbial steam train at 1000-1200 rpm, with the TC obviously locked or at least with minimal slip.

Cavalier - how are you getting on with the remap and EGR blank? What are the main improvements? Mpg? 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Well after about 3000 miles, mostly towing a big caravan, I must say I have noticed improved mpg also smoother qicker standing starts. I had the DPF light come up on holiday, I used the car every day for short 10 mile journeys for 3 weeks. This cleared on my home journey. The car is due its annual service and mot in December, I expect it to pass with flying colours, but I will let you know.
