United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 V8 Santorini Black
2011 4.4 TDV8 Cranks but won't fire after battery change

Afternoon!
Today at lunch, I changed my battery. I followed the correct procedures for time before disconnecting etc..
After fitting, the engine turns nicely, but will not fire. Dash, radio etc. all work fine too.

I've tried locking/unlocking & waiting. I've disconnected the battery again and waited before reconnecting.
I've done a lot of reading on the forum here and it looks like the ECU link with the immobiliser may have dropped, but I have no way to tell. It could also be fuel pump related - though I've had no previous issues.

Does anyone in Somerset (nr. Podimore) have a diagnosis tool that would be willing to help me? Embarassed
OR
any other ideas to try?

Thanks

you shouldnt have any problems by simply changing the battery..i suspect theres a loose wire somewhere that you may have missed..

also,is the battery definitely at full power.. ... - .- -.

I would start by looking at the bonnet lid switch., but it is a wild guess.

+1 with Mike AND Stan^^

And disconnect the battery again and do a hard reset. Wait a few minutes after disconnecting, with BOTH cables off the battery touch them together for a few moments. Reconnect in correct order and try again. Cheers

Thanks for the rapid replies!

Still no change - I've double checked all cables. Battery is fully charge. Bonnet switch working correctly (indicating on dash when bonnet open). Engine still turns strongly, just not "firing".

Try your spare key ! Have had a bad key-fob battery do this. If no good; lock car wait 3 mins and try again, the immobiliser might need re-setting.

Maybe add some fuel in case the gauge is lying.

Update: Having run out of daylight, I left the car for 48hrs and guess what... ...it started 1st time, but also now says restricted performance. Very odd electrical gremlins!
