Charging System Fault and single headlamp staying on

After two years of almost completely trouble free motoring, my L405 4.4 SDV8 has become upset at the thought of leaving me at the end of its PCP term and thrown one thing after another at me in the last month of ownership. Most have been handled but as of this morning I have "Charging System Fault" appearing on the dash.

Furthermore, I have a single headlamp lthat remains on quite dimly and flickers a little, see video below. This remains on whether the lights are in Auto or Off and with the car unlocked or locked. Pretty sure I'll be waking up to a flat battery and unfortunately I don't have anywhere I can trickle charge it from.

I had the Charging System Fault error a couple of weeks ago and reported it to my dealer a few days BEFORE the warranty ran out so it would be investigated and fixed when it was serviced just AFTER the warranty expired. Naturally it didn't occur on service day nor since (until today) and they never mentioned it.

I have to return the car to the finance company on Friday so keen to resolve before they send me an enormous bill. Appreciate any advice you guys might have.

Thanks in anticipation.

the side light is the drl and i'm pretty sure that bit of the headlight which you have illuminated is the high beam reflector..

maybe a bad earth or a chaffed wire. ... - .- -.

Thanks Stan. Updated title and text from side lamp to DRL.

I'm wondering if LR will address it under warranty since I reported to them before it expired on 22nd November.

Got you. Updated title again!

Going to check the car again shortly and am hoping it has magically switched off.

Stan, early early cars had that light as a DRL (no signature DRL) and if not a super early car then that light is the cornering (AFS) lamp sir Thumbs Up

As expected, the battery was flat on Sunday morning and required a jump start to get going. More positively, I was able to start the car several times during the day so whilst there's a Charging System error, it does appear to be charging the battery. At various times the lamp stayed on, other times it went off, but it's on again now so there's another jump start on the horizon.

Spoke to my mechanic today and before I bring the car in he suggested I do a hard reset by removing the cables from battery terminals and touching them together. I can see this is a very well documented process for L322 models but nothing about L405s. Before I go to the hassle, can anyone advise if they've done a hard reset on an L405 this way (or any other way)?

Thanks!

I recall reading similar issues on a L322 some time ago (like 10 years ago).
It was the battery getting low that caused the parking light to come on.
The guy fixed his charging issue, charged the battery fully, and it went away. Too many toys, not enough time
