Headlight upgrade

Hi - have a 4.4 petrol on an 04 plate, can I simply put brighter bulbs in my car or is there some hidden conundrum like there normally is with RR.

Dont appear corroded - job to tell really but my other cars have brighter lights - I only have one eye and it has undergone considerable surgery over the years - I have a plastic lens and my eye is filled with silicone fluid so night time vision is not brilliant so a bit more light would certainly help - just put 50% brighter bulbs in my other cars and was wondering if I could do the same with the RR.

I think there was some Osram xenon upgrade bulbs mentioned on here recently.

Not sure if it’s D3S type bulbs you need, but a pic below....

Mine's a 2002 HSE with the xenon lights. I too have noticed they have gone a bit dim this last few months and understand they do deteriorate over time - and given that my bulbs are 17 and a half years old it's not unreasonable that they are past their best.

The xenon bulbs in mine are apparently the D2S version and I have just ordered a pair of the Osram nightbreakers off ebay. I had a pair of nightbreakers on my previous motorbike and the improvement over the standard bulbs was incredible. When these arrive I'll fit them to my Range Rover and report back.

If you renew the xenon bulbs and fit led headlight bulbs to the main beam only lights the improvement is dramatic.
It's almost like driving in daylight. Thumbs Up

Watch this 1st

This guy mirrors my own experience with led bulbs in the pursuit of better lights on previous cars and bikes. On our D2 the original lights were very poor so x2 new headlight units and osram night breakers sorted it out

Can't find link at present to what I have fitted.
I renewed the Ds bulbs with new and then fitted led canbus bulbs to supplementary main beam headlights. H7 I think.
Never had any problem in over 3 years but presumably they will fail in due course. I will then simply replace on a like for like basis, c heap enough.

I watched the vid. That makes sense really.

I was only looking at replacing the halogen main beam bulb, H7 I understand, as mentioned above.

Seem to be well over £100 depending on where you look 😱

I don't think you need to spend £100, mine weren't and are good.
Bear in mind you need to remove each headlight assembly from car to fit them, even then they are a bit fiddly. Worth it though in my opinion.
