MOST HUR interfaces?

Has anyone had any experience of these - I have one from Avin and it seems to work however with no music I just have a loud hiss. I wonder if this skimmers the amplifier gain and if so maybe it does it too high? Current stable:
2006 BMW M6
2007 4.2 V8 S/C FF
Gone:
2002 4.4 V8 FF
