1700w Reference Sound Option?

I know the 1700w reference sound option means 29 speakers including 4 in the roof lining, 2 Just in front of the sun visors and two at the rear positioned above the head rests, so easy to confirm the option, but if these are not present, any idea why there would be speakers (or at least grilles) in the rear of the two front seats?

Checking the specification it shows as Meridien (L4) whereas I believe the 1700w is (L5).

Maybe someone changed the front seats from a writeoff car ?

Seems far fetched but can’t think of another explanation........

I too also thought the presence of the seatback speakers meant 1700w

That’s where my thoughts were going Alistair, although I wonder quite why you’d bother assuming you couldn’t connect the speakers.

I believe they are 24 way seats fitted in that pic... I don't think the 24 way seats come without the bulbous rear covers/speaker covers... So, if you order your 405 with the upgraded 24 way front seats but without 1700w audio you get what you have there sir... 24 way seats but with blanked rear speaker grilles Thumbs Up

Thats my best guess Whistle

Thanks Craig, here’s the front seat controls, does this confirm as 24 way & explanation for the speaker grille as I can’t see anything specific detailed in the topix spec.

Following Craig’s suggestion, a bit more research and it does indeed have the ‘upper seat articulation’ option (perhaps similar to the first L322’s that I recall also had this!) and the ‘speakers’ are in fact leather covered blanks.

Hopefully helpful to others in the future.

Just for clarity, yes the upper seat articulation is only on the 24 way front seats... And yes, just like the early 322 Thumbs Up

That’s exactly right.

I mistakenly thought I had the 1700W system. I didn’t. 😢

Another tell I’d that the 1700w system also has speakers next to the front sun visors. 👍 L405SC just arrived... still working everything out!

Which for anyone wondering is for the internal PA system! So, it amplify’s the rear seat passengers speech and delivers it through those speakers and visa versa with the drivers speech... A very clever system indeed! “And saves you raising your voice on motorways 👍

Turned that off, every now and then my son would scratch his speaker above his head in the rear. Drove me crazy until he confessed Embarassed Spent ages looking for the cause of the annoyance as well.

Just seen this, sadly can't remember as I came across the menu by accident. I shall go and have a look this afternoon, see if my old brain cell gets kick started.
