I've recently been in need of a car to lug stuff around - my estate car isn't long, wide or tall enough so I've been looking at getting another low mileage (sub-65k), low owner, early (pre-2005) V8 petrol L322. There doesn't seem to be any for sale. Even when expanding the search to a 4.2 Supercharged, very few are tidy. I remember 12-18 months ago, I was tripping over nice ones. Has everyone decided to keep theirs?

There is a nice Epsom green, one owner 60,000 mile one on Autotrader at the moment. I think it is on for £8,999.

For what was lurking under the plastic sill trims and what is visible on some photos on vehicles for sale on Ebay , a lot will end up being scrapped due to corrosion !

It’s not just the earlier ones, I’ve had several 2010/2011 L322’s over the last couple of years, all with some degree of rusty rear arch lips and corrosion under the plastic sill cover / wheel arch liner, I came to accept it as part of the ownership experience!

I doused with Dinitrol products including spraying it through the handy holes in the sill when the plastic cover is removed in an effort to keep the rust at bay.

With this said, I also had a 2009 L322 with similar mileage that had zero rust in these areas and no apparent repair / paintwork, I can only assume it’s down to the life they’ve led.

I sold my 2004 TD6 Vogue last year for 12k. Obviously that's a lot of money, but as a one owner with just 41k on the clock, full main dealer history, little or no corrosion, a perfect interior and genuinely no issues throughout its life I'd say it was great value for money

Keeping my 12 for a while yet. Not seen the point in changing it for a 405 yet.

Quite fancy the new defender.......  There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I've just been looking for one on eBay and all the ones that took my fancy are miles and miles away. Onto my 2nd FFRR, this time an L405 5.0L SC AB in SVO Palette black.

Even the 1 or 2 low mileage, low owner cars are very rough. I would expect that MOT advisories are usually dealt with the next time a car gets serviced but some cars have the same issue year in, year out.

A 47k, 2 owner car for sale at a dealer has an MOT history that reads:

2014: Failed 1st test
- Mileage unreadable (dash screen needs repair)
- Front Brake pad(s) less than 1.5 mm thick (3.5.1g)
- Nearside Front Lower Suspension arm has excessive play in a ball joint (2.4.G.2)

I thought I found a nice supercharged 2007MY black car but it looks like its now sold.

I think that one is quite shocking that the mileage cannot be read for close on 5 years  Too many toys, not enough time
