Sunglasses problem with HUD

Just got some new prescription shades and since the sun came out this weekend in the UK for what seems like the first time in weeks, I decided to put them on in the car.

This quickly turned into a psychedelic experience as the windscreen was completely covered in diagonal stripes of rainbows (and I hadn’t touched a drop, honest!)

Only later I noticed that I was also unable to clearly see the HUD speed indicator.

My new glasses have polarised lenses (I’m presuming that my old ones didn’t) and I’m guessing that what’s happening is that the solar attenuating windscreen needed for the HUD is itself polarised (or similar) at that the rainbows are interference.

So, I guess it’s back to the opticians to get the lenses redone. Unless of course there’s another fix that you clever lot out there are aware of!!

BTW, I did manage to read the HUD but only tilting my head to about 45 degrees Cool 2016 SDV8 AB

I've had a similar experience with polarised lenses - I couldn't read the instrument panel very well - they seem to incompatible with the FFRR

Tried with (Land Rover) polarised sunglasses and I see trippy patterns on the central screens, but not on the dashboard. 2019 Vogue P400e

Lcd screens emit horizontally polarised light, sunglasses lenses are vertically polarised to deal with glare.
That's why you can't read the hud or instrument panel in later ffrr's.
If you turn the sunglasses through 90 degrees you will be able to read everything, unfortunately you probably won't be able to see out the windscreen.

As mentioned earlier, no problems with the HUD or instrument panel, only the central screens on a MY2019. 2019 Vogue P400e
