GPS Problems, 2008 Vogue SE A

Hi guys ive read a few threads on here about the dreaded Gps with a red strike through.

Ive been having th same issue was out one day navigating fine then all of a suden it went heywire and didnt know where it was and the GPS with the red lin apeared.

Aftre reading on her i brought a cheaper eBay gps reciver to see if this was the problem. at first i connected it up and attaced it the the side of the body in the boot, As with previous cars using a android head unit the gps has been hidden behinf d the unit its self. But with it stuck to the side of the body i was still getting the GPS and red line and the car not knowing where it was.

So i took the reciver and stuck it on the roof directly and tryed that, At first it seemed to work and the GPS logo vanished, but after a while it reapeared with the red line but the car still knew its location and was still able to use the navigaton with out it losing its position. but still have the GPS with red line through.

Would this be because ive pluged it in to the dvd box and the signal is not using the GPS signal amplifier that seem to be in the boot lid.

Also ive tryed thr menu screen using the 753 code but im unable to find the satalite screen to show the signal status,

Regards

Mike
