I think they are a great car, especially if your not doing a lot of mileage each day.

Let's face it, petrol and diesel is almost a thing of the past now the way technology is moving.

A friend of mine who is a fleet manager was talking to a 'wet chemical scientist' recently. Apparently they've almost got this battery technology sussed. Don't want to go into too many details but it was a case if a single very quick charge returning almost 600 - 700 miles.

If / when that technology is released it will be a game changer.

I can’t see EV’s ever being cheap. As soon as enough are being purchased to drive the cost down, the government will have to make up the short fall in duty on petrol and diesel. The only way I can see that happening is if they stick a charge on the purchase price.

They’ll justify it by saying we’re saving the planet when there’s already much debate that from manufacture to disposal, how much greener EV’s really are

Last night on the repeat of Question Time on the BBC there was some discussion which included EVs. A woman in the audience asked what would happen about disposal of the batteries. She was totally ignored.

The question of the charging infrastructure was also raised. The glib response was that it would all be sorted out. I don't think the politicians have the least idea of the implications; where are the materials for the batteries coming from for a starter.

It was pretty obvious that the mantra was electric and nothing else. John

I have to admit to having a soft spot for the i3, it's just the price that puts me off.

My mileage is low enough that I could easily get away with an EV, but the high price and range anxiety keep stopping me.

Electric does drive very differently to IC engine for obvious reasons, my little i3 can out drag most cars 0 to 30, it's quite impressive and even after 30 feels pretty lively.
