LR fail again!

During its normal service undertaken in mid-Dec 19, my RR was identified with some warranty work, a faulty front bush and an oil leak. It was booked in with the local dealer at the end of Jan (first available date) and I was told it would be returned within the week.

The bush was fixed in the first week and then the saga began. The oil leak was identified (something to do with or near the water pump) and various parts were ordered. Some arrived, some didn't, some got stuck on the dealers conveyor belt which apparently was broken at one point prevent access to the parts. Parts aren't delivered on a Monday.

Then I was told a week ago that the job was nearly finished (a few hours), but I was going away for the weekend so we agreed they would complete it for my return. On my return I was told that it needs another part. A couple of days later I was told that this part would not forthcoming from LR for another month!

At which point I asked to speak to the head tech person and he told me it was a small gasket that was on back order with LR and they had tried to source from other dealers but failed. It's an hour's job to compete the work once the gasket arrives. The RR is undriveable without the gasket.

By the time its fixed it will have been at the dealers for around 7 weeks. It doesn't seem to be the dealers fault but they could have communicated the situation more reliably. LR have messed up again!

I have a RR Sport HSE loaner on the drive but its filthy inside, completely out of washer fluid and scratched on the outside. It lags like hell when pulling away at a junction. Not a pleasant experience in comparison to my RR. I know this is a first world problem Wink

I'm not complaining just lost for words. MY23 D350 HSE

I ordered a MacBook Pro with custom spec on 20th January with delivery estimated for 11th Feb delivery. On 11th Feb I was told it's now been put back to 20th March estimated delivery due to coronavirus. I read somewhere that Foxconn (iPhones etc) was operating at just 10% of capacity. The worst is yet to come from a supply chain perspective as existing inventory is consumed. Even something manufactured in EU might have plant & machinery with dependencies on a China supply chain for replacement parts etc.

Nothing was mentioned about the part coming from China, although I am aware that JCB have made an announcement about their supply chain issues restricting production.

Does anyone know what % of LR parts are produced in China? MY23 D350 HSE

Most of JLR parts seem to come from within the EU,with only a small selection from China, Korea, India etc

It certainly happens with other manufacturers - heard of a Cayenne off the road for months for a back-ordered part.

So long it is done properly, I would not care.

I am beggining to worry. Seems LR fails a lot? Is it an unreliable car?

Im on my 6th in a row (see below) and having driven over 300,000 miles between them (including having driven over 78,000 miles in the current RR), I’d say that they’re pretty good and a lot, lot, better than many! Thumbs Up

Finally got it back last week. So much unnecessary messing (me) about by LR and the dealer.

The dealer even asked if one of their senior technicians could take my RR home on a Friday night on the proviso that it needed a long test drive now it was fixed. It could have been left on the street for all I know and had their kids climbing all over it. I had lost faith in them by this point. I politely declined due to the unknown risks and potential consequences. They then kept it a few more days until someone was 'available during the day' to take it on a long test drive.....

I ended up with a new Velar HSE 240 (I think) 69 plate with a couple of thousand miles. What a dog! Much worse than the Sport. So laggy and nearly fell over in corners unless it was in Dynamic. Sounded like a sowing machine too. Given the cost of these Velar's I would avoid! Volvo XC40/60 in my experience are much better options.

At this point in time you must try the 5.0L autobiography amd let us know if I my thoughts about it are valid.

You have driven different versions of Range Rover and rejected them. Might as well try the 5.0L now to complete the list.
