I’d imagine it’s largely academic if it’s just within an inch or so. Key thing is to keep pushing the bow wave, and there should be much less water behind it then, so rest of car won’t be in such a depth.... different matter if you end up stationary though.... it’s always a risk.

I guess without seeing another car go through the proper way is to walk it with a stick depth check.

When we had the floods here a few years ago I had no option but to drive through flood water to reach the house it was all ok but I damaged the tyre walls on debris and had to replace them and that was me knowing the road in great detail

These are not dry cars when new so any real deep water will put a lot of problems in the bank for the future, good for mud not sud! |

Few years back I took my 2007 VSE through about 3 to 3 1/2 ft of standing water over a 1/2 kliometre on a flooded road. There were about 30 cars parked , not able to go through and I would be sure there was more than a few of them hoping I wouldn't make it 2015 4.4 AB

Myself and my eldest were heading into work and for the first hundred metres we were like 2 kids in a sweet shop , as it got deeper we got quieter, the road dipped and at the lowest point we were both starting to think that maybe this wasn't a good idea but then we started to head up the other side and the water got shallower. It was my first FFRR and I was over the moon with already , this just put the icing on the cake 2015 4.4 AB

plenty of floods round here and am now bored with driving through them and pulling other folks out.... so I tend to avoid them.
