Ambient Air Temperature Sensor

I have the guage in the car reading -40C which I have been able to determine is the failure of the above sensor.

Having done some research I am to beleive that it sits behind the main grille at the front and I set about opening up the front to replace it only to find it gone. No wiring nothing.

Can anyone help me find the wiring scource for this? Photos would help. Thanks Current cars

Can't seem to find the diagram on new.lrcat.com but on the video above just after the 2 minute mark he points out the sensor.

Has the display only recently started showing -40?

That's the default temp when the temp sender has failed or the wiring is open circuit.

If it's missing then that would explain it, but it would have shown for a while.

I only got the car last wednesday and am starting to find and sort all the little things that need done. I would guess that it has been like that for a while. Current cars

On my 2003 car, it was clipped to the rear of the front grille, so to take the grille off, you had to physically unmount the temp sender.

Is yours fitted with a standard grille? Could someone have replaced the grille and not remounted the sender?

If yours isn't there then look for the cable, it may be tucked away nearby.

I think that's only on 2010 cars and later.

Hi, just bumping this old thread as my reported external temp is around 10 degrees down, i.e. on a normal day 12' I get the ice warning and 2' showing.

It's a 2012 Westminster, I see from this thread the temp sensor is apparently in the drivers door mirror, but I can't find it for looking. I can't find it in any other thread or the workshop manual either, but then again I'm not sure what I'm looking for.

Any guidance on how to access it and what it is I'm I'm looking for ?

That's great, many thanks, I was expecting it to look something like the original, tiny, no wonder I couldn't find it.
